My professional career has spanned multiple industries (construction, retail, education, non-profit, healthcare), but has always centered on the theme of improving process through the effective use of Information Technology. Since 2002, I have been working at MD Anderson Cancer Center developing integrated IT systems to facilitate clinical research and operational efficiencies with a simple motto: If it doesn’t make your job easier, we shouldn’t be doing it. As professionals we must strive to find efficiencies through the effective use of information technology.
Today, with the explosion of social media, prevalence of mobile devices and the increased push for technology from the Affordable Care Act, we are immersed in fundamental change in the healthcare industry. I relish the opportunities presented by the growing prevalence of technology and am always on the lookout for ways to leverage innovation in healthcare.
In this blog, I will explore how the healthcare industry is adapting to social media and share innovations with those who share my passion: using IT for improvement, not for technology’s sake.
