My professional career has spanned multiple industries (construction, retail, education, non-profit, healthcare), but has always centered on the theme of improving process through the effective use of Information Technology. For the past 10 years, I have been working at MD Anderson Cancer Center developing integrated IT systems to facilitate clinical research and operational efficiencies and helping to build both the patient and physician Web portals (myMDAnderson).
My involvement in these sites, coupled with a background and continuous training in quality and process improvement, has lead me to continue to strive for improved operational efficiencies through the effective use of information technology.
Now, with the advent and explosion of social media and mobile devices, we are on the precipice of fundamental change in the healthcare industry. I relish the opportunities presented by the growing prevalence of technology and am always on the lookout for ways to leverage innovation in health care.
In this blog, I will explore how the healthcare industry is adapting to social media and share innovations with those who share my passion: using IT for improvement, not for technology’s sake.
