My professional career has spanned multiple industries and always centered on the theme of improving processes through the effective use of Information Technology. For the past 7 years, I have been working at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center helping to build both the patient web portal (myMDAnderson) and then expanding that system to create a physician portal for our referring community physicians.
My involvement in these sites, coupled with a background in quality and process improvement, has lead me to continue to strive for improved operational efficiencies through the use of information technology.
Now, with the advent and explosion of social media, we are on the precipice of fundamental change in the healthcare industry. I relish the opportunities presented by Web 2.0 and am always on the lookout for ways to leverage innovation in this health revolution.
In this blog, I will explore how the industry is adapting to social media and share innovations with those who share my passion: using IT for improvement, not for technology’s sake.
